The confusion regarding the Kolkata Derby continues to persist. Be it the timings or the venue, nothing has been confirmed. However, East Bengal upon speaking with the Sports Ministry of the state has proposed to conduct the match on 10th March but at 9 PM at the Salt Lake Stadium.
The main trouble for the hosting the derby is Chief Minister’s rally on the same date. Mamata Banerjee has hosted a political rally on the same date which hugely clashes with the East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan clash in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The hosts of the game. i.e East Bengal had a lengthy discussion with Sports Minister Aroop Biswas and the following was proposed. East Bengal are keen to host the match in Kolkata owing to their huge home advantage. But the time change is yet to be approved by ISL or the FSDL.
Huge Roadblocks for Kolkata Derby on 10th March
There are quite a few roadblocks for the same. If the game is slated to commence from 9 PM then adequate buses and metro services need to be provided. It will be a huge problem for the supporters and fans to return home after the game which will conclude post 11 PM.
Furthermore, this proposal needs to be approved by the Kolkata and the West Bengal police authorities. No such clearance has been received from the Police authorities as of yet. InsideSport can confirm that no such letter regarding the change in timing for the match has been sent to Mohun Bagan.
Furthermore, there remains a huge doubt of the match regarding the broadcast perspective. InsideSport can confirm that the ISL too is currently on standby. They too haven’t been informed anything about the scenario. It will be a huge obstacle for the FSDL Broadcast team to conduct such a huge game at such a late hour.
The delay regarding the date, timing and the venue continues as fans wait in anticipation for the matter to be resolved.
