After an emphatic win over Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie on Tuesday, Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth failed miserably against Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus in the second round of the Malaysia Open, and lost 13-21, 17-21.
Despite starting the match on a positive note — he had a 6-1 lead in the first game — Srikanth’s outing was filled with errors, that ended his campaign prematurely. Meanwhile, the Indian had won the last two matches against the opponent, but then just could not build enough pressure to get to the finish line.
The second game saw Srikanth make a comeback of sorts at 11-10, but from there on he could not capitalise. That also marks the end of singles campaign for India in the tournament, as HS Prannoy & Lakshya Sen had lost their matches earlier.

Meanwhile, the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty posted an easy win against France’s L Corvee and Labar R, to progress to the next round.
