A freak accident occurred during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 match between Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators on Sunday, when Mohammad Wasim Jr’s celebratory throw hit Sarfaraz Ahmed’s head.

The incident took place in the final over of the first innings, when Reeza Hendricks skied a delivery from Mohammad Amir and was caught by Wasim at deep midwicket.

Wasim, who was ecstatic after taking the catch, threw the ball high in the air which hit Sarfaraz who was stationed behind the stumps.

The ball came down and hit Sarfaraz on the head. The on-field umpires immediately stopped the game and called for the physio. Sarfaraz was taken off the field and underwent a concussion test. He was later ruled out of the match and replaced by Sajjad Ali.

The incident sparked concern and sympathy from the fans who wished Sarfaraz a speedy recovery.

Talking about the game, the Gladiators suffered their first defeat of the tournament. Chasing 181, the Quetta Gladiators were restricted to 167/9 in their 20 overs.
